72 hours training is available to everyone

A training system has been designed around the 72 hours home preparedness recommendation. Basic information about the 72 hours concept is available online at 72hours.fi and at public presentations and webinars held all around Finland.

The public presentations and webinars are about 1 to 2 hours long and address the basics of home preparedness, such as how to prepare for a prolonged power outage or disruption in water supply. 

Public presentations and webinars are organised by 72 hours instructors all over Finland. 

72 hours instructors have completed the 72 hours preparedness instructor course by SPEK. To organise a 72 hours themed event for your housing company, workplace or hobby group, contact your local instructor. Contact information may not be used for marketing or research purposes.
 

CALL FOR INSTRUCTORS

Some instructors may organise public presentations on the 72 hours concept free of charge or while on the job, in which case the presentation does not result in costs to the customer. Some instructors organise presentations outside their normal work and will usually charge a fee recommended by SPEK for the sessions. The fee is 65 euros/hour.

Interested in becoming a 72 hours instructor?

If helping households prepare to cope independently is your thing and you enjoy teaching, apply for a 72 hours instructor qualification! 

You can take the instructor course online or face-to-face at a seminar in your location. 

• You can take the 72 hours instructor course as an online course by the Finnish National Rescue Association.
   
• Check the Finnish National Rescue Association’s training calendar for the next scheduled 72 hours instructor course as a face-to-face seminar or webinar and sign up for the course. 

Naturally, the 72 hours instructor course can be taken out of personal interest in home preparedness. Completing the instructor course does not obligate you to sign up for the public instructor register.

Broad cooperation behind the training system

Home preparedness and the 72 hours preparedness recommendation are backed by a broad network of authorities and NGOs. The training system and materials around the theme have been designed by the Finnish organisational committee for self-directed home preparedness (KOVA), which is part of the national organisation of security of supply and coordinated by the Finnish National Rescue Association. In addition, many local authorities and fire and rescue departments are actively involved in promoting the 72 hours home preparedness recommendation. 

Home preparedness is important to both society and, above all, to each individual themselves. For this reason, everyone should be prepared for emergencies.
